Fundamental Movement Skills

A huge emphasis is placed on the Fundamental Movement Skills and a plan has been designed to implement these. As much as possible, fundamental movement skills are taught that are appropriate to activities that are covered during the year. E.g. sidestepping and dodging are frequently taught in conjunction with tag rugby sessions. Striking with an implement is taught in conjunction with hurling.

Extensive use is made of the Move Well Move Often resources. Posters have been erected in our PE  Hall and videos are used to demonstrate the key teaching points of each skill. e.g. https://vimeo.com/214850491  We also use the excellent Move Well Move Often website for planning https://www.scoilnet.ie/pdst/physlit/
