Visit of local Emergency Services

Junior and Senior infants were treated to an exciting visit by paramedics from Tullamore Ambulance and members of the local Order of Malta. One of our own past pupils Adam Kinahan was also on hand and impressed us with his skills.

The purpose of this visit was to educate the children about the i portant work of the people who work in the emergency services and to reduce the fear factor that children may have should they ever be involved n an accident where emergency services are engaged.

It was both an extremely educational and enjoyable experience for all of the children. They children were

  • given a demonstration of the equipment used by paramedics
  • shown how to make an emergency call
  • given the opportunity to interview the paramedics
  • shown a recreation of an accident and the paramedics demonstrated the work they do

We would like to thank Gary Finlay (who also happens to be a Junior Infant parent), for volunteering his time and expertise and for organising such an enjoyable day for the children.

Many thanks also to the rest of the team that made this a day that the pupils will remember long after they ever leave school!
